Scalable, low-cost, safe and clean.

Why Virtus Solis?

We have designed the world's first space-based solar power energy generation system able to directly compete with all forms of energy.

How it Works

Virtus Solis is the world's first space-based solar power energy generation system able to directly compete with conventional and renewable energy sources with none of the drawbacks.

Satellite arrays collect solar power and convert to microwaves.

Microwaves transmit solar power to the ground.

Ground stations rectennas gather microwave energy and convert back to electricity.

Satellites are grouped into massive arrays—100,000 satellites for 100MW—allowing for a highly scalable energy platform. Arrays can grow to 20 Gigawatt or more.

Satellites are in sunlight all of the time with long dwell time over the northern/southern hemisphere due to orbital characteristics. Microwaves pass through atmosphere and weather with nearly no loss.

Energy can then be sold into the power grid or supply high demand users with energy directly.

Architecture

Each 1.65 meter satellite delivers 1 kilowatt (kW) of power to ground.

Arrays of satellites scale from 100 MW to multi-GW level.

Highly elliptical Molniya orbit constellation keeps one or more arrays in line of sight of ground stations 100% of the time.

10 GHz microwaves transmit energy to ground rectennas.

Commercial Space Launch Makes Space Solar Power Viable

Launch costs are lower than ever. Low cost access to space is the enabler for low energy cost.

Greater than 90% availability, for 5–20x more sunlight than terrestrial solar due to no weather or night time.

Solar intensity is 40% higher in space.

The power beam can instantaneously beam power to anywhere on 50% of planet's surface—delivering power where and when it is needed.

High scalability with design-for-manufacture, low cost satellites and rectennas.
