Virtus Solis Signs Landmark 20-Year PPA with Brae Systems
Virtus Solis has signed a landmark 20-year power purchase agreement with Brae Systems for an initial 100 MW of firm, 24/7 orbital solar power.
The agreement will provide 876,000 MWh of clean electricity annually for Brae’s next-generation subsea data-centre infrastructure. It also includes an option to expand the supply to 250 MW within three years of initial commercial operations.
This is an important commercial milestone for space-based solar power. It demonstrates real customer demand for clean, continuous energy that is not constrained by weather, the day-night cycle or congestion on existing electricity grids.
Brae is developing subsea computing infrastructure to address the cooling and land constraints facing conventional data centres. Combining that model with firm orbital solar power offers a new approach to two of the largest challenges facing AI infrastructure: access to energy and management of escalating thermal loads.
For Virtus Solis, the agreement is a strong validation of the market for space-based solar and the first of several commercial opportunities we are advancing.
Our next major technical milestone will be a public wireless power-transfer demonstration in March 2027.
